The kick-off meeting of the LIFE-RESPIRE Project, Public Event,

The public kick-off meeting of the LIFE-RESPIRE Project was held in Rome, at the Earth Sciences Department of Sapienza University on the 21st of September, 2017. The event lasted half a day, and concluded with a social lunch. About 50 people were invited from the general public, Research institutions, other Universities and from the municipalities that will studied in the project.  After opening addresses by the Head of the Department, Paolo Ballirano, and the President of CERI, Francesca Bozzano, the Project Coordinator illustrated the main aspects of the project followed by an introductory presentation on radon sources, risks, laws, and mitigation approaches. After speeches from the mayors of the three towns that will be studied during the project (Caprarola, Celleno and Ciampino), a colleague from FANC illustrated the radon regulations and remediation approaches in Belgium, followed by presentations on the European Map of Geogenic Radon, on indoor radon measurement techniques, and on the perception of the radon problem by the public.
